But doesn&amp;#39;t see economic pickup until late 2010 early 2011. So what will be happening in between? 500,000 - 600,000 housing starts a year is not a bad number, it is average. The problem was (and still is) is that there were too many homes being built, with not enough people to fill them. So the Fed lowered interest rates to accomadate. And here we are. There isn&amp;#39;t a timetable on the &amp;quot;recession&amp;quot; or when we will start to see some pickup. But what we do know is that there is an abundance of excess housing, that will take AT LEAST a year to be absorbed. Until then, don&amp;#39;t count on anything being back to &amp;quot;normal&amp;quot; (whatever that is).</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/1864815735750729117/8195797874824510395/comments/default/1619947078871515596'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/1864815735750729117/8195797874824510395/comments/default/1619947078871515596'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.housingchronicles.com/2009/07/economist-mark-zandi-says-recession.html?showComment=1247838330525#c1619947078871515596' title=''/><author><name>SurILL</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/00821186358588967037</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.housingchronicles.com/2009/07/economist-mark-zandi-says-recession.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1864815735750729117.post-8195797874824510395' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/1864815735750729117/posts/default/8195797874824510395' type='text/html'/></entry></feed>
